Connect to a cloud server
Log in as root over SSH, Remote Desktop, VNC or the terminal; reset the password and manage SSH keys.
Login details
Open Cloud servers → Instances and click the instance. On the Overview tab, Basic information shows the Username and the IP address.
- Linux images log in as
root; Windows images asAdministrator. - The password is the one you set when buying. It is not shown again; use Reset password if you lost it.
SSH (Linux)
ssh root@203.0.113.10With an SSH key bound to the instance, add -i ~/.ssh/your_key if it is not your default key.
Remote Desktop (Windows)
Connect with Remote Desktop (mstsc) to the instance IP as Administrator. The first boot of a Windows image takes a few minutes longer.
VNC and terminal
Open Remote connection at the top of the detail page:
- VNC: the instance's screen in your browser. Works even when the network inside the instance is broken.
- Terminal: the serial console. Press Enter once if the screen is blank.
Reset the password
- Open the Settings tab and click Reset password.
- Enter a New password (at least 8 characters) or click Random, then confirm.
The same tab has Change hostname and Change VNC password.
SSH keys
Save keys
Open Cloud servers → SSH Keys (/evm/ssh-keys):
- Add key: paste a public key (not the private key) and give it a name.
- Generate key: the platform creates a key pair. The private key is shown only once, so click Download and keep it safe.
Deleting a saved key does not remove it from instances where it is already installed.
Bind keys to an instance
Open the instance's SSH Keys tab (Linux only):
- Bind keys: choose saved keys or paste a new public key.
- Unbind removes one key; Clear all keys removes them all.
- Disable password login: allow SSH with keys only. You need at least one key bound. The VNC console still accepts the password.
Changes are applied through the guest agent. If the agent is not available, they take effect after the next restart.
Power
The buttons at the top of the detail page are Power on, Shut down and Restart. More actions has Force shutdown, Force restart and Reinstall OS.
