Online Ping, Traceroute and MTR
Ping a host or trace the route to it from locations around the world to find out where latency and packet loss come from.
How it works
Ping, traceroute and MTR
Ping
Sends a few ICMP echo requests and reports the round-trip time and loss — the quickest way to compare latency from different regions.
Traceroute
Lists every router on the path to the host, so you can see where the route goes and where the delay jumps.
MTR
Combines both: it traces the path and pings every hop repeatedly, which shows loss on a specific hop.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
The host does not answer ping. Is it down?
Not necessarily. Many servers and firewalls drop ICMP. Try the website speed test or the HTTP headers checker instead.
Why is loss shown on a middle hop but not at the end?
Routers often rate-limit replies to traceroute probes. Loss that does not continue to the final hop is usually harmless.
Can I test from mainland China?
Yes, choose China mainland as the location. Fewer probes are available there, so results may come from only a few networks.
