IPv6 Readiness Test for Your Domain
Check whether a domain is ready for IPv6: AAAA records for the website and www, IPv6 nameservers and mail servers, and whether the site actually answers over IPv6.
How it works
Why IPv6 matters
Mobile networks run on IPv6
Many mobile carriers give phones only IPv6 and translate IPv4 at a gateway. A site with IPv6 skips that translation.
An AAAA record is not enough
Publishing an IPv6 address that does not answer is worse than having none: clients may wait before falling back to IPv4. The test connects to make sure it works.
DNS and mail too
IPv6-only resolvers need nameservers with IPv6 addresses, and IPv6-only mail servers need an MX they can reach.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I add IPv6 to my site?
Put the site behind a CDN with IPv6, or give the server an IPv6 address, open port 443 for it and add an AAAA record.
Will adding IPv6 break anything for IPv4 users?
No. Clients without IPv6 keep using the A record.
