Open Dedicated Servers and click a server. The detail page shows its location, IP address, billing cycle, expiry date and hardware. The management tabs below appear while the server is running; a tab that your server does not support is not shown.

Note

while a server is suspended (unpaid renewal), management is disabled. Renew it first.

  • Login shows the user (usually root). Click Show password to reveal the password, then connect with SSH: ssh root@<server-ip>.
  • KVM console opens the server screen in a new browser tab. Use it when SSH is unreachable, for example after a network misconfiguration. Each click opens a new, short-lived session.

Power

The buttons at the top of the page: Power on, Reboot and Power off. A reboot or power off interrupts everything running on the server.

Reinstall the operating system

  1. Open the Reinstall tab.
  2. Choose the Operating system and, if offered, the disk partitioning scheme.
  3. For Windows, enter License key (optional) if you have your own key.
  4. Click Reinstall and confirm.
Warning

a reinstall erases all data on the server's disks.

The tab shows the progress while the install runs. Cancel stops it. When it finishes, the server has a new root password: click Show password again to see it, and remove the old host key on your computer with ssh-keygen -R <server-ip>.

Bandwidth

The Bandwidth tab shows traffic for the last day, week, month or year, and how much of your monthly allowance is used.

Reverse DNS (rDNS)

In the rDNS tab, click Set rDNS next to an IP and enter a hostname such as mail.example.com. Mail servers usually need a PTR record that matches their hostname.

Null routes

A null route makes the network drop all traffic to one of your IPs. Use it to take an address off the internet during an attack.

  1. Open Null routes, choose the IP and how many hours (1 to 720).
  2. Click Add null route and confirm.

The list shows active null routes with their reason and expiry. Click Remove to lift one early. A route marked Locked was set by the network team (for example during a large attack) and cannot be removed from the console; contact support.

DDoS attacks

The DDoS attacks tab lists attacks detected on your server's IPs, with type, peak, start and end. An attack still in progress is marked Ongoing.

Backup space

If your server includes FTP backup space, the Backup space tab shows the FTP host, the space used and the accounts.

  • Turn an account on or off with its Enabled switch.
  • Click Set password to set the FTP password (8 to 64 characters).
