CSR Generator: Create a CSR and Private Key
Generate a certificate signing request (CSR) and matching private key for an SSL certificate — RSA or ECDSA, with extra domain names (SAN).
How it works
What a CSR is
The request you send to the CA
A CSR contains your domain names, organisation details and public key. The certificate authority signs it and returns your certificate.
Keep the private key
The private key is created together with the CSR. Save it securely: the certificate is useless without it, and nobody — including us — can recover it.
RSA or ECDSA
RSA 2048 works everywhere. ECDSA P-256 keys are smaller and faster and are supported by all modern clients.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do you store my private key?
No. The key is generated for this request and returned to you without being stored. If you prefer, run openssl req -new -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes locally instead.
Which fields matter for a DV certificate?
Only the common name and any extra names (SAN). Organisation fields are checked only for OV and EV certificates.
